About The Position

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Receives assignments and requirements from research project sponsor in preparation for planting, growing experimental crops, and raising livestock.
  • Cultivates the land for planting crops and processes and sorts seeds for accurate planting, numbering, and identification of plant and seed samples.
  • Mixes chemicals and applies herbicides and fertilizers, as required, and applies spray pesticides and herbicides.
  • Performs field operations such as, disking, mowing, seed bed preparation, harvesting crops by hand or mechanical farm equipment.
  • Assists in field days and educational study tours of farm operations and crops.
  • Records test data on various measurements, chemical applications, and soil and air temperatures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
