The position involves overseeing and directing operations to include above ground and underground aggregates mining crew, including personnel, equipment, trucking, and materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Maintain a certification as a Mine Foreman from the Ohio Department of Mineral Resource Management.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all operations are in full compliance with federal and state regulations, including OSHA, MSHA, DEP, etc.
  • Supervise and direct facility personnel to ensure proper placement of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with The Shelly Company Manual of Safety Practices & Procedures.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and work rules, discipline when necessary and document employee performance issues.
  • Enforce company safety rules and conduct safety meetings, including toolbox talks; ensure facilities are operating in a safe manner.
  • Identify and resolve regulatory, safety, personnel, and production problems, in a timely and effective manner.
  • Establish correct field calculations and communicate cost yields and accountabilities.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with Quality Control to assure specification requirements.
  • Track and record fuel usage, hour meter readings, and mileage reporting for equipment.
