Aggregate Environmental Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description Summary The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. Operate equipment to perform finish grade, slope work and other excavating operations as part of the reclamation and restoration/stabilization activities at aggregate sites. Ensure erosion and sediment controls are installed and function as part of the stabilization activities (temporary and permanent grassing) to meet environmental compliance at aggregate sites. These activities will be completed by APAC employees and subcontract personnel. Interact and maintain a positive working relationship with subcontractors hired to help supplement aggregate site reclamation and restoration/stabilization activities. Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in pit, mining and reclamation operations. Report any problems to the Aggregate Environmental Foreman. Operator will be responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers. When working with co-workers, constant eye contact will be maintained when backing, communicating using hand signals or other movements. Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Follow directions of Aggregate Environmental Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site. Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Aggregate Environmental Foreman. Perform daily pre-and-post shift equipment inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies. Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations, servicing and repair of equipment to further their abilities. Perform general labor duties when necessary. Requirements

Earthwork equipment operation knowledge and the ability to train employees.
Must be physically able to walk on uneven surfaces and be able to stand and walk multiple hours a day throughout the aggregate site to perform duties of the job.
Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Pass a pre-employment physical.
Able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
Report to work at the designated start time. Be regular and timely in attendance.
Weekend work may be required.
Able to work overtime when required.
Travel and overnight stay will be required.
Willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
At least 18 years of age due to the nature of the working environment.
Must be capable and licensed to drive a company pick up to aggregate sites to perform the duties of the job.
Be dependable, self-motivated and task oriented.
Verbal and written communication skills required.
2-3 years' experience in finish or fine grade operation of heavy equipment or related experience and training.

Nice To Haves

An understanding of MDEQ surface mining and stormwater permit regulations is a plus.
Previous MSHA training/knowledge preferred.
Experience with surveying and shooting grades is preferred.
