About The Position

Under general supervision of the Executive Director of Academic Advising Enrichment, this position will provide wide ranging and complex academic advising to an assigned caseload of students. The Aggie Success Advisor and Retention Specialist, Advising Training and Development Lead collaborates with multiple stakeholders to design, develop, and implement specialized academic advising interventions that support campus advisors, and student success and retention. This position supports Academic Advising Enrichment in developing and enacting a framework for equitable advising at UC Davis, and leads the development and implementation of AAE's academic advising training and development programs to advance the mission and goals of Academic Advising Enrichment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience counseling and advising students in an academic environment at the university/college level.
  • Experience proactively addressing and managing challenging situations and/or individuals.
  • Problem solving skills and experience to identify and document patterns of student academic needs.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating training and development programs.
  • Skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a collaborative and cross-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and analysis skills to understand complex policies and interpret and apply rules.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Experience accessing, entering and maintaining information on Banner and OASIS.
  • Experience developing and implementing workshops and seminars for students.
  • Experience developing outreach/recruitment/retention programming.
  • Experience operationalizing diversity, equity, and inclusion in organizations.
  • Knowledge of the university policies, requirements and procedures related to undergraduate students.
