This is a full-time, paid internship based out of our headquarters in San Ramon, CA. This role is hybrid. 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in office is required. The program runs 11 weeks with the opportunity to start in early or mid-June. As an intern at Five9, you can expect to: Learn. You'll work closely with experienced applied scientists and machine learning engineers and gain hands-on experience with a full suite of generative AI technologies such as agentic AI frameworks, transformer-based models, and MLOps.
Requirements
- Rising college senior or above, pursuing a post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python with hands-on experience or a keen interest in data analysis.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
- Exposure to generative AI/NLP tools, including transformer-based models and Hugging Face Transformers
- Experience working with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic).
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a passion for exploring and applying new technologies in AI.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, preprocessing, and quality assurance of datasets to help us improve the AI Capabilities within Five9.
- Support the development and fine-tuning of NLP models/pipelines for tasks such as text classification, clustering, summarization, conversational AI, and retrieval augmented generation using tools like PyTorch, and HuggingFace Transformers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into production pipelines.
- Participate in evaluating model performance exploiting suitable methodologies and metrics as well as contribute to iterative improvements.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in NLP and machine learning research, contributing ideas that drive innovation.
