About The Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Agency Management Analyst in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: • Assisting with the collection of complete and accurate information pertaining to crimes reported by law enforcement agencies as well as other data required by the FBI and/or Code of Virginia. • Conducting quality control including audits of local Incident-Based Reporting (IBR) contributing law enforcement agencies and providing training classes for these agencies. • Assisting the Data Analysis and Reporting Team (DART) Supervisor & Manager in analyzing crime data and preparing the annual Crime in Virginia Report. • Ensuring appropriate system access and providing end-user support for the repository.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of data collection and research techniques and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of statistical and analytical techniques.
  • Knowledge of sampling methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Skills in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Skills in operating database management systems to extract and manipulate data.
  • Skills in using computer graphics, desktop publishing and spreadsheet software.
  • Skills in using web-based data collection systems.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and interpret crime data for projections of crime trends.
  • Ability to produce graphs and charts.
  • Ability to think logically and independently.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
  • Experience in data collection and analyzing information.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or training in business administration, criminal justice, or a related area preferred.
