About The Position

The Role: Supports vegetable and summer crop operations by operating tractors and related farm machinery with an emphasis on precision agriculture and ag ‑ tech tools. Location(s): Salinas, CA Areas of Responsibility : Operates tractors, trucks, and other farm machinery to support planting and cultivation, activities. Utilizes ag tech tools such as GPS guided equipment, precision planting systems, and digital field mapping devices to improve efficiency and accuracy. Monitors machine performance using onboard technology and reports mechanical or system issues promptly. Performs basic equipment troubleshooting, including calibration of sensors, monitors, and automated controls. Prepares equipment by adjusting settings, heights, mixes, and/or cultivator blades based on crop type, field conditions, and terrain. Attaches and operates towed or mounted implements using proper tools and safety procedures. Uses digital logs or mobile applications to track field activities, equipment usage, and productivity data. Drives trucks to transport materials, supplies, or machinery to designated locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three months operating tractors, forklifts, tillage equipment, or similar machinery.
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and basic written materials.
  • Able to write simple documentation.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to follow detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions and troubleshoot simple equipment or technology issues.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods, occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires sufficient vision to safely operate machinery and read digital displays.
  • Outdoor field work with exposure to varying weather, dust, mud, insects, plant materials, and treated fields.
  • Frequent contact with moving equipment and loud noise.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GPS ‑ guided or precision ‑ ag equipment is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Comfort using tablets or mobile devices for basic data entry is helpful.
