About The Position

We are seeking enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated teachers to lead an innovative afterschool program for our middle school students. This program aims to provide a safe, engaging, and enriching environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Teachers will design and facilitate dynamic, project-based learning (PBL) activities that reinforce skills in math, reading, and writing, while fostering crucial team-building skills.

Requirements

  • Teacher certification.
  • Experience in implementing project-based learning (PBL) or hands-on, experiential learning models.
  • Strong understanding of middle school developmental needs and best practices in social-emotional learning (SEL) and behavior management.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement stimulating lessons centered around project-based learning (PBL) that integrates core academic subjects (math, reading, writing) in a fun, non-traditional format.
  • Design and facilitate engaging activities that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
  • Incorporate team-building activities into the daily routine to promote a positive group dynamic and collaborative spirit.
  • Provide consistent, active, and diligent supervision of all students to ensure a safe and secure environment at all times.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure all safety protocols and behavioral guidelines are followed consistently.
  • Support students' social-emotional development by modeling positive behaviors, empathy, and effective communication.
  • Implement proactive strategies to support student self-regulation and emotional awareness.
  • Utilize effective, restorative conflict resolution techniques to mediate disagreements and guide students toward peaceful solutions.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive reinforcement strategies and clear, consistent expectations.
  • Collaborate regularly with Coordinator and fellow staff members to align program activities with overall goals and address student needs.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and program updates.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Director of Extended Day Programs and fellow staff members to address issues or modifications to program.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Supervise dismissal and student safety throughout program.
