As an Inclusion Aide, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students with special needs, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to fully participate in our before and after-school programs. You will provide direct, one-on-one or small-group support, adapting activities and engagement strategies to meet the unique needs of each student. What a typical day for an Inclusion Aide is like: Encourage and facilitate student participation in program activities, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment. Build strong, positive relationships with students, fostering a sense of belonging. Implement strategies to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs. Assist students with academic work, including homework help and enrichment activities. Follow attendance procedures, ensuring accurate sign-in and sign-out records. Collaborate with site staff and leadership to adapt activities to meet students’ needs. Demonstrate leadership and a commitment to empowering youth. Maintain professionalism, patience, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. #SD2

Requirements

  • Background in special education, child development, or youth programs highly preferred.
  • Experience working with children or youth in grades K-12, especially those with special needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to supervise and engage students in a group setting.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in youth education.
  • To be a good communicator and be able to talk to both kids and parents comfortably.
  • College transcripts that show you have 48+ college credit units completed OR take and pass an academic proficiency exam.
  • To get a TB test (and provide proof that it is negative) and pass a Live Scan background check.
  • Reliably commute before starting work (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with inclusive programming and behavioral support strategies is a plus.
  • If you are an English-Spanish bilingual speaker, your resume will stand out!
  • If the school you will be working at requires a Covid-19 vaccination, then you must provide documentation that shows you are fully Covid-19 vaccinated.
