The Group Leader at South Mountain YMCA plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the School Age Before or After Care program. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about working with children and are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment. The Group Leader will assist the Site Supervisor in ensuring that all children are supervised according to the established standards and that their safety is prioritized at all times. This includes maintaining constant head counts during transitions, providing restroom supervision, and ensuring proper hygiene practices are followed, such as handwashing after using the restroom. In addition to supervision, the Group Leader will lead and support various program activities, including the implementation of CATCH and Healthy U programs, assisting with snack time, and providing homework support as needed. The role requires the Group Leader to utilize available resources to deliver engaging activities that align with the YMCA's mission and vision. The Group Leader will also be responsible for following YMCA protocols in emergency situations and participating in monthly safety drills to ensure preparedness. Building positive relationships with children, their families, and school personnel is a key aspect of this role. The Group Leader must represent the YMCA positively in all interactions and serve as a role model for the children. Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment is also essential, which includes cleaning supplies and equipment before and after activities and reporting any maintenance issues to the Site Supervisor. The Group Leader will also promote YMCA programs and camps to families and assist in planning special events, including the Annual Campaign. Attendance at all required training and meetings is expected, along with maintaining necessary certifications throughout the program. This position may also involve performing other job-related duties as requested.
