About The Position

The Program Coordinator for Afterschool and Summer Program at MentorKids USA is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that provide enriching experiences for children and youth in South Phoenix. This role involves collaboration with the program team, community engagement, staff supervision, and program evaluation to ensure a safe and supportive environment for participants.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program coordination or management, preferably in a nonprofit or youth-serving organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of youth development principles and best practices in after school and summer programming.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Must pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in childcare (1 year preferred).
  • First Aid Certification (preferred).
  • CPR Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the program team to implement innovative and engaging afterschool and summer program ideas.
  • Design activities and projects that align with program goals and objectives, fostering academic enrichment, social skills, life skills, and personal development.
  • Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the afterschool and summer program, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Facilitate program activities and workshops, providing guidance and support to staff and participants as needed.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, schools, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous leadership improvement.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in youth development and program delivery.
  • Implement assessment tools and data collection methods to measure program outcomes and impact.
  • Analyze program data and feedback to inform program improvements and decision-making.
  • Prepare and submit reports on program activities, achievements, and challenges.
