The Afterschool Activity Specialist works in a before/afterschool/summer child care program. The Afterschool Activity Specialist will be responsible in supervision and instruction of children (kindergarten-grade 12) in various enrichment and academic activities. The Afterschool Activity Specialist will also be responsible for supervising any Afterschool Program Staff, Aides and Volunteers that are working or volunteering in their classroom. Essential Functions: Perform routine functions to support daily operations including, daily attendance, instructional support, copying of materials for clubs or groups, greeting families and children daily, engaging in daily activities and supporting student needs Curriculum planning connected to state and common core standards and completing the Before, During, After Chart (KWL Know Want Learn Chart) Supervise Afterschool Staff/Aides/Volunteers in the classroom Provide safe, caring, engaged environment and be able to remain in close proximity to students at all times. Provide daily assistance on various field trips; walking or bus. MUST be able to walk daily 2 miles during program hours Follow local policy and procedures in the area of educational requirements and building level operations Participate in required in-service training programs and complete professional pre hours for DCC and STARS regulations Foster healthy relationships among children Provide positive role modeling experiences Maintain strict confidentiality of student information, providing information to parent, teachers, and other on a “need to know” basis only.
