About The Position
The Learning Experience – Gainesville is seeking a dependable Afternoon Assistant Teacher to support our preschool and early childhood classrooms during afternoon and dismissal hours. This part-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and helping maintain a calm, structured, and engaging end-of-day environment. Our center focuses on school readiness, social-emotional development, and hands-on learning in a safe and nurturing setting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Childcare or preschool experience required
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
- Reliable and comfortable working afternoon hours
- Must meet Virginia childcare licensing and background requirements
Responsibilities
- Support Lead Teachers with afternoon classroom activities and transitions
- Assist with learning centers, small-group activities, and guided play
- Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness
- Support positive behavior guidance and peer interactions
- Communicate professionally with families during pick-up
- Prepare classrooms for the following day
- Follow all Virginia licensing and safety standards
