About The Position

The Learning Experience – Ledgewood is seeking a dependable Afternoon Assistant Teacher to support our classrooms during the afternoon and closing hours. This part-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and helping maintain a calm, engaging end-of-day environment. Our center serves infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children in a structured early learning environment focused on safety, positive guidance, and play-based learning.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Experience working with children preferred
• Reliable, patient, and comfortable working afternoon hours
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Must meet New Jersey childcare licensing and background requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teachers with afternoon classroom activities and transitions
• Support children during playtime, learning centers, and group activities
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
• Assist with end-of-day routines and classroom preparation for the next day
• Communicate professionally with families during pick-up
• Support multiple classrooms as needed
• Follow all New Jersey childcare licensing and safety requirements
