About The Position

As an After Care AOD Counselor II you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP).

Requirements

  • Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of drug abuse.
  • Knowledge of contractual requirements of ISUDTP is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  • Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS.
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.
  • Protect and maintain program participants’ health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
  • Required: Counselor I must meet one (1) of the following requirements:
  • Less than one (1) years of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor; OR
  • Registered with an AOD certifying organization recognized by DHCS, enrolled in AOD education classes, and six (6) months of experience providing CBI services.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
  • Effectively implement scheduled SMART Recovery program curriculum as required by contract. Leads face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral interventions, and the SMART Recovery Curriculum.
  • Engage participants periodically, reinforce group rules and expectation for participation and completion.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
  • Completes all delivery documentation requirements per contractual obligations in ARMS.
  • Prepares accurate, concise, informative reports, records and plans that are consistent with Amity standards, and complies with applicable clinical and administrative rules.
  • Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans, and prepare transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
  • Works collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff. Supports and collaborates with co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors, and Regional Directors.
  • Attend workshops, meetings, and training as requested by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
