About The Position

Youth workers promote the personal, educational, and social development of young students aged between 5 and 10 years old. The Youth worker is responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for young children. Their duties include coming up with fun creative and educational activities, preparing and serving snacks to children, and maintaining a clean environment for the children.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Demonstrated creativity, energy, and enthusiasm for working with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; patient, friendly, and organized.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screens.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google Suite and relevant software.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement daily lesson plans and activities that support academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Interact with students to provide guidance, encouragement, and positive role modeling.
  • Maintain a constant visual of assigned group or grade level to ensure safety and participation.
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful culture where all students feel supported and valued.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space.
  • Monitor student behavior and encourage appropriate conduct using trauma-informed practices.
  • Resolve conflicts calmly and fairly, maintaining confidentiality when needed.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, coworkers, and school staff.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding incidents, concerns, or student needs, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and colleagues to ensure quality, coordinated services.
  • Facilitate connections to Guadalupe Centers resources and wraparound services when appropriate.
  • Take and submit daily attendance records.
  • Submit supply requests in advance to support approved lesson plans.
  • Attend staff meetings to share updates, resources, and program needs.
  • Participate in required training, including CPR/First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care, and Mandated Reporter certification.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
