As the center for community well-being, the YMCA envisions that every person in Los Angeles has a positive YMCA experience that will change their lives and our community for the better. Through its three areas of impact—youth development, healthy living, and social impact—the YMCA partners with schools across the greater Los Angeles area to deliver high-quality, grant-funded before and after school programs that support the whole child. The After School Track & Field Coach plays a vital role in advancing this mission by providing safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate track and field instruction to elementary and middle school students. This position is responsible for traveling to assigned school sites to lead after school practices that promote physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, confidence, and positive youth development through athletics. Coaches create inclusive and supportive environments where students of all skill levels feel encouraged to participate, improve, and belong. In addition to teaching fundamental track and field skills, the coach serves as a positive role model, building meaningful relationships with students, families, school staff, and YMCA leadership while reinforcing YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. This is a seasonal, grant-funded, school-year–based position that includes paid training and professional development. Additional hours and opportunities may be available during school breaks, including summer day camp and special events.
