About The Position

After-school Teacher After-school teachers are responsible for the education and care of children in an after-school program. Their duties include developing a comprehensive curriculum and planning daily activities. They also interact with parents and other staff members to create a safe and fun learning environment for children. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of children during all activities. Promote exploration, creativity, and discovery and stimulate each child’s individual development. Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment. Work cooperatively with other teachers Preparing materials and maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment. Ensure that all Bank Street College, New York City Department of Health/Bureau of Day Care, and New York City Department of Education, CACFP guidelines followed Other duties as assigned by Director

Requirements

High School diploma or general equivalency diploma required
Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team, as well as develop skills in working with individual children, small groups, and the whole class
Strong interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
Experience working with preschool children in a child care setting and managing a classroom preferred
