About The Position

After-school teachers are responsible for the education and care of children in an after-school program. Their duties include developing a comprehensive curriculum and planning daily activities. They also interact with parents and other staff members to create a safe and fun learning environment for children. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of children during all activities. Promote exploration, creativity, and discovery and stimulate each child’s individual development. Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment. Work cooperatively with other teachers. Preparing materials and maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment. Ensure that all Bank Street College, New York City Department of Health/Bureau of Day Care, and New York City Department of Education, CACFP guidelines followed. Other duties as assigned by Director.

Requirements

• High School diploma or general equivalency diploma required.
• Experience working with preschool children in a child care setting and managing a classroom preferred.
• Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience managing a classroom.
