About The Position

This position is responsible for: Leads children’s activities in and after school program including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; prepares and serves children snacks; assists in leading activities and maintains the cleanliness of the program areas Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.); prepares and processes supply orders; Maintains the after school program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability necessities of the programs. Key Responsibilities: Provides constant care of the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner. Institutes and follows lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands- on activities Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children’s safety in utilizing the same. Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities. Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive relaxed atmosphere during children’s mealtime encouraging conversation. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Duties are performed in a classroom, gym, and outdoor settings. Sitting, walking, and standing are required. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs) 5-10% of work time. Work requires working indoors and outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E. D.
  • Two (2) years’ experience teaching child development programs in a church or school, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
