After-School Instructor: Project Based Learning (Spring 2026)
About The Position
As a key member of the After School Middle School Program, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ success by delivering a pre-written curriculum designed to prepare them to confidently participate in Project Based Learning courses once they reach high school. After-School Instructors will teach at one of our three program locations: Bronx Site: Urban Assembly for Applied Math and Science (1595 Bathgate Ave., Bronx, NY 10457) Brooklyn Site: The Breakthrough New York Office, (39 Broadway, Suite 820, New York NY 10006) Manhattan Site: The Town School (540 East 76th Street, New York, NY 10021)
Requirements
- Can demonstrate experience and results with similar responsibilities to those listed above
- Is passionate about forming relationships with middle school students
- Is a current undergraduate or graduate student or a recent college graduate
- Can commit to the entire Spring 2026 Term (January 28th - April 29th)
- Is confident with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in particular), Zoom, Google Drive, and comfortable learning new systems
- Demonstrates excellence in BTNY’s Core Values
Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-written PBL curriculum twice weekly to middle school students.
- Supporting with logistical aspects of the program and filling in when needed
- Learn and practice student management techniques and communicate with your Program Manager about student needs.
- Participating in weekly check-ins with your Program Manager for professional development and mid-semester/end-of-semester evaluations
- Evaluating student output and tracking student performance
- Complete training and observation sessions
- Other duties based on the BTNY site which you are assigned
