The Operations Specialist Afterhours Lead position is responsible for supervising the after-hours and weekend operations team, ensuring that all customer requirements are met. This role involves managing daily operations, scheduling and dispatching trucks, and maintaining communication with various departments to address service issues effectively.

  • Provide hands-on guidance in the day-to-day management of the after-hours and weekend operations team.
  • Complete accurate and timely scheduling and dispatching of trucks to meet customer demands.
  • Negotiate with transportation providers to obtain the best rates and service.
  • Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery, providing accurate, up-to-date information regarding any shipment.
  • Communicate service issues to appropriate personnel and departments, both internal and external.
  • Update and maintain transportation management and operations system.
  • Prioritize tasks and workload to focus on issues that impact quality and service performance.
  • Adhere to company standards on customer satisfaction, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Proactively identify problems and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Provide complex problem resolutions.
  • Utilize specialized industry and company computer systems and procedures to process client shipments.
  • Maintain regular, timely, and consistent attendance at work.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior consistently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent data entry/keyboard skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with carriers and drivers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to seek alternative solutions.
  • Self-directed, displays initiative and can work independently.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of the basic concept of supply chain.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  • College degree highly preferred.
  • Supply chain, logistics, or transportation industry experience is preferred.
