About The Position

CGS is seeking an experienced ACE Investigator with extensive knowledge and skills in investigative techniques and fraud detection to provide assistance for a large Federal agency initiative. The investigator will generate new investigations, and continue with ongoing investigations and civil actions involving fraud in areas such as healthcare, contracting, and grants, as well as other fraud and abuse of federal public funds and programs. The role involves regular meetings with ACE attorneys and designated agency personnel for the purpose of generating fraud investigations, performing a variety of ancillary investigations-related services, and utilizing electronic databases to identify documents, witnesses, and other physical evidence. The investigator will prepare reports on the progress of investigations, examine various records, perform sophisticated analyses of data, gather and analyze facts, assist with interviews and depositions, and develop an understanding of applicable laws to make sound decisions on investigations.

Requirements

  • Ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and other databases.
  • Experience with document review/management platforms such as Relativity.
  • Ability to review and understand a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal.
  • Ability to think independently and develop investigative strategies.
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and work as a team player.
  • Skill in dealing with people in a courteous and tactful manner.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new investigations and continue with ongoing investigations and civil actions involving fraud.
  • Meet regularly with ACE attorneys and designated agency personnel to generate fraud investigations.
  • Perform ancillary investigations-related services in support of assigned fraud cases.
  • Utilize electronic databases to identify documents, witnesses, and physical evidence.
  • Prepare reports on the progress of investigations for AUSAs and supervisory attorneys.
  • Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, and other records.
  • Perform analyses of large-scale hard-copy and electronic data to develop investigative leads.
  • Gather and analyze facts including witness statements and scientific data.
  • Develop and analyze evidence and collect information from primary and secondary sources.
  • Assist ACE AUSAs with interviews, depositions, and sworn witness examinations.
  • Assist with the preparation and service of subpoenas for documentary materials.
  • Develop an understanding of applicable federal, state, or local laws.
  • Determine the most efficacious methods for planning and conducting investigations.
  • Perform other related ACE investigator duties as assigned.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.
