About The Position

As an Aerospace Technician - Quality Inspector / Calibration Technician, you will be primarily working out of the Metrology lab, performing maintenance, checkout, and certificaiton of precision equipment to manufacturer and industry standards. Additionally, as part of the Quality team, you may be performing inspection tasks associated with check out and test of ground, airborne and facility systems and equipment during preparation for spacecraft encapsulation and rocket launch operations for compliance with engineering, quality, and customer specifications and requirements. Tasks include, but are not limited to: Perform installation, checkout, maintenance repair, refurbish, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of airborne, aerospace ground and facilities electrical, electronic, instrumentation and range safety equipment and to calibrate, test, repair, maintain and modify test instruments and gauges utilized in the test, operation and maintenance of products at the launch site. Work with space flight hardware and/or ordnance performing receipt, transport, storage, repair, maintenance, calibration, modification and installation.  Assist engineering in the evaluation of tests and correction of malfunctions; perform test and operational procedures.  Assist engineering in the analysis of tests and correction of malfunctions; perform test and operational procedures. May require the layout, construction or fabrication, assembly, repair and alteration of sheet metal, steel, aluminum, composite and fiberglass parts, assemblies and structures and/or welding of same, as required, in support of operations.  Perform specialized calibration, maintenance, repair and modification of electronic, physical, and/or mechanical measurement instrumentation and equipment.  Perform checkout, maintenance repair, refurbish, in-place calibration, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and final servicing of structural, mechanical and fluid systems of space vehicles, launch facility and aerospace ground equipment during field static firing or launch operations. May be required to operate heavy duty type vehicles, including special purpose transporters, to move and transport parts, materials, equipment, tools, components and assembled products between various locations, both on and off base. Must be able to travel, work overtime, and support all shifts as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience that includes one or more of the following: Metrology / precision measurement tooling
  • Aerospace and/or aviation quality inspection
  • Propulsion
  • Hydraulics
  • Pneumatics
  • Avionics
  • Spacecraft payload processing
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Security Clearance is required. US citizenship is required.
  • Basic computer experience to include Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel to other ULA facilities outside the state of Florida including coast to coast travel (25%).
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50lbs on a frequent basis.
  • Capable of climbing and working at heights.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and personal transportation to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not available. Job duties require traveling between locations on the military base throughout the course of the day.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant Associates or 2-year Technical Degree
  • Heavy structures and/or airframe experience
  • FAA A&P License, FCC Certified General Radiotelephone Operator License, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working in clean rooms and on clean systems
  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and application
  • White Sands COPV damage detection training
  • Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) knowledge and experience
  • An active DoD Secret Security Clearance is preferred. US citizenship is required.
