About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As Systems Engineer on the New Glenn Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team, you will be part of a hardworking team of engineers, applying broad multidisciplinary engineering (mechanical, structural, fluids, electrical/electronic, and software) knowledge and skills to create processes and procedures for the development, implementation, certification, and sustainment of the New Glenn launch system. This role bridges traditional systems engineering with emerging AI technologies to improve development, implementation, certification, and sustainment processes. It requires understanding and knowledge of requirements definition, verification and validation, functional analysis, modeling and simulation, system safety analysis, technical measures, and specialty engineering (e.g., operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability), as well as other systems engineering lifecycle processes.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience with launch vehicles, aerospace, or defense programs
  • 5-8 years of proven engineering experience
  • Experience with system engineering principles and practices
  • Experience in at least one of focused subject area of mechanical, fluids, thermal, propulsion, avionics or electrical hardware and/or software, telemetry/communications, structures, ground operations or flight/ground autonomy
  • Possess skills in system thinking, excellent written and oral communication skills, proactive in moving a program forward through team collaborations to achieve timely decisions, ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive culture

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing or utilizing AI/ML models in engineering workflows
  • Proficiency with Python, particularly for data analysis and AI integration
  • Experience with large language models (LLMs) for engineering requirements analysis or documentation.
  • Understanding of AI ethics and responsible implementation in aerospace applications
  • Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with AI-assisted safety analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with systems engineering standards (ISO/IEEE, NASA, INCOSE, SAE)
  • Experience with AI-based predictive maintenance or anomaly detection

Responsibilities

  • Work across vehicle stages and subsystems and support integrated launch system design, certification, and sustainment
  • Develop health metrics to provide insight into program health relative to major milestones and participate in program gated reviews
  • Implement and support AI-enhanced system engineering processes and tools to improve efficiency and analysis capabilities
  • Develop and utilize AI-assisted requirements management approaches across multidisciplinary teams
  • Develop and implement metrics leveraging AI capabilities to monitor quality and schedule performance
  • Support requirements development, allocation, and verification using AI-enhanced tools like DOORS Next Gen
  • Contribute effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
