This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will design and deploy test systems and software for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of component, sub-assembly, and vehicle level testing. We develop ground test data acquisition and control systems based on NI CompactRIO, CompactDAQ, PXI, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and other hardware that will test fluid, mechanical, and electrical development and avionics systems for our engines, launch vehicles, and launch and landing systems. Our team provides support for business units and programs across Blue Origin for critical development, qualification, and acceptance testing. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and integrating features into our existing test platform deployed to the test cells and systems at Blue. You will be supporting automation software to drive cadence of test campaigns, develop high throughput data processing and data transfer pipelines from on-premises hardware, integrate existing applications with new internal and external drivers, databases, APIs, etc. and modernize parts of our legacy platform to use the latest tools and practices. This role will also require working knowledge and skills of electro-mechanical and fluid systems that are sensed and controlled by our software. Additionally, you will participate in code and design reviews on a multi-developer team, write automated unit tests and integration tests in conjunction with our DevOps and System Engineers, and add new technologies to our platform. Further, you will be expected to deliver, educate, and support our group's platform for the other internal test teams within Blue Origin. Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering. Degrees in other engineering disciplines will be considered if all other qualifications are met
  • 4+ years of direct software engineering experience in Python, C#, C++, or other software languages
  • 2+ years of leading design or architecture for new and existing systems. Experience leading a major project from inception to production including owning its requirements, architecture, design, implementation, with contribution from fellow developers
  • Experience with cloud-based architecture, deploying applications in cloud environments, and containerized workloads (we use AWS).
  • Solid working knowledge of electrical, fluid, physics, and math and able to apply fundamental principles to real world designs and problems
  • Desire to work in a driven, fast paced, and dynamic environment
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in computer science or equivalent preferable.
  • Experience working in aerospace and/or a regulated test environment.
  • Experience with building web applications using typed scripts like React.
  • Project management experience, delivering results on-time and on-budget, reporting well.
  • Comfortable working with AI software development tools, with excellent understanding of the benefits and risks of using them.
  • Experience with containerization technologies: Docker and/or Podman
  • Familiarity with Qt or PyQt for building UI-based applications
  • Experience writing software that interfaces with physical hardware via protocols (TCP/IP, serial, Modbus, SCPI, etc.)
  • Experience with Linux, Git, Networking, CI/CD, Ansible, Artifactory, Datadog
  • Knowledge in a scrum or agile practices
