About The Position

As Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic, you'll be inspecting, servicing, maintaining, testing and storing our aerospace ground service vehicles and equipment to support aircraft flight and maintenance operations. You'll perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aerospace ground and service equipment (AGE), inspect, test, and operate AGE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation, diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions, remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and re-install AGE accessories and components. Your duties will also include providing dispatch services for AGE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations, and preparing AGE for storage and mobility deployment. As a small component of this role, you will assist with Tool Room Crib operations, including issuing tools and maintaining tool programs and inventory.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • A higher-level degree may substitute for experience
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Exposure to technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
  • Experience performing periodic government inspections
  • Ability to perform load testing on aircraft jacks
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform periodic inspections and maintenance
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain AGE equipment records
  • Familiar with multiple tools and its use
  • Removal and replacement of parts
  • Understanding of the principles of electronics, refrigeration, hydraulics, power generation, reciprocating engines (gasoline and diesel), gas turbine engines, pneumatics and heating
  • Moderate skills in servicing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and performing preventive maintenance on motor and engine-driven generator sets, air conditioners, hydraulic test stands, air compressors, heaters and other similar support equipment
  • Understanding the use, maintenance, and repair of a variety of hand and power tools and tooling equipment is a PLUS, including familiarity with calibrated tools and test sets.
  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
  • Must have an active US driver’s license
  • Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 60/30 rotation
  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays, and shift schedules as required

Nice To Haves

  • Formal Technical training
  • FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience
  • Tool Room Crib Assistant experience
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military

Responsibilities
