About The Position

Aerospace Engineer Key Role: Join the Booz Allen Space Environments Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Team. Support the space client by tackling the challenges of lunar dust contamination of spacecraft and other assets by modeling the complex interactions between dust particles, the space environment, and spacecraft. Develop and use advanced computational modeling tools and techniques. Join the team as they develop a comprehensive modeling and analysis framework for the client’s Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP) to characterize the risks that lunar dust poses to the success of a permanent human presence on the moon. Be responsible for developing new M&S capabilities, model systems and environments of interest, and simulate physical phenomena such as plasma interactions with spacecraft and dust.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience with M&S of physical phenomena or systems
  • Experience with rarefied gas dynamics, direct simulation Monte Carlo, space environments effects such as radiation transport, materials outgassing and contamination, and spacecraft charging
  • Experience with data processing and statistical techniques
  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks and NX, meshing or finite element analysis software such as Ansys, Thermal, and Desktop, and CFD tools such as STAR-CCM+, Loci-Chem, and Fun3D
  • Experience developing software to implement analytical and computational models
  • Experience with programming in Fortran, Python, or C++
  • Experience working with Linux environments and writing technical documentation
  • Ability to work in both a team and independently, and take ownership of assigned tasks
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Master’s degree in a Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, CS, or Applied Mathematics field
