About The Position

Join a precision manufacturing team in the Downers Grove area where your eye for detail keeps flight-critical parts within spec. As a Line Inspector, you’ll move between machines and inspection benches, validating that precision machined components meet demanding customer and industry standards from first part to final release. What a typical day looks like You start by reviewing engineering drawings, inspection plans, and process sheets, noting key GD&T callouts. With micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators in hand, you perform in-process checks, confirming dimensions and surface finishes against specifications. You record results and any nonconformances using established quality procedures, then partner with operators and supervisors in real time to address discrepancies before they become rework. As parts near completion, you handle final inspection, confirm traceability and documentation are complete, assist with tool calibration records, and ensure a clean, organized inspection area.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in manufacturing or quality inspection; aerospace, automotive, or precision machining experience preferred.
  • Strong blueprint literacy and GD&T proficiency.
  • Skilled with precision measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, etc.).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, clear communicator, and dedicated to quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to CMM operation or data review is a plus, not a must.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections on precision parts using hand and digital metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, etc.).
  • Validate dimensions and surface finish against blueprints, specifications, and inspection plans.
  • Document inspection data, test results, and nonconformances per quality procedures.
  • Communicate quality issues to production personnel immediately to support throughput and first-pass yield.
  • Interpret drawings, GD&T symbols, and process documentation to verify compliance.
  • Assist with measurement tool calibration and upkeep of inspection records.
  • Maintain traceability, documentation accuracy, and cleanliness to meet company and customer requirements.
