PPG Aerospace is seeking an Aerospace Analytical Lab Chemist to join our Lab team in Mojave, California. In this role you will support the entire site with your analytical skills. In this role you will work on-site at our Mojave, CA facility and report directly to the Quality Lab Manager.

  • Chromatography: Experienced in Agilent GC systems, proficient in calibration, sample preparation, and positional analysis
  • Spectroscopy: Proficient in FTIR (ATR and Crystal Transmittance) for liquid and solid samples, elemental spectroscopy in ICP, including sample digestion, and calibration methods
  • Moisture Content Analysis: Knowledgeable in Vapor Pro - Ametek
  • Wet Chemistry: Proficient in Metrohm automatic titrators for Karl Fischer titration, functional group titration, and ion analysis
  • Manually titrate using burette and indicator or probes
  • Problem Solving: Facilitate resolution of technical issues, coordinate experiments, compile and analyze data concerning coatings, sealants, polymers and resins
  • Method Development and Validation: Read and apply ASTM and industry standard test methods, develop PPG methods in collaboration with S&T
  • Lab Assistance: Conduct and support material testing using various analytical instruments, techniques, and troubleshoot unfamiliar machines
  • Equipment Research: Investigate lab equipment and applications, provide information to management as needed
  • One (1) year of related chemistry field or academic experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE with or without reasonable accommodation.
