About The Position

You will be the Conceptual Design Engineer (Part‑Time) for the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Engineering team in Palmdale, CA. Our team is responsible for creating innovative, high‑performance aerospace solutions, developing cutting‑edge concepts for power plants, aircraft, missiles, and components while applying the fundamentals of flight physics and structural integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering.
• 8+ years of industry experience in aircraft conceptual design.
• 8+ years experience mentoring within the conceptual design discipline.
• Proficiency in Catia V5.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a configuration lead on air vehicle design program(s).
• Experience teaching technical courses.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and testing a variety of power‑plant, aircraft, missile, and component concepts, ensuring optimal use of the natural laws governing flight.
• Establishing structural specifications, performing stress‑analysis calculations, and conducting performance tests to validate designs.
• Applying engineering fundamentals to evaluate aerodynamic, propulsion, and materials considerations throughout the conceptual phase.
• Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to integrate feedback, refine concepts, and advance designs toward downstream development.
