About The Position

Mach Industries is seeking a talented and driven Aerodynamicist to support the design, analysis, and optimization of next-generation autonomous defense platforms. In this role, you will contribute to the aerodynamic performance of air-breathing aircraft, high-speed glide vehicles, and missiles. Your work will play a crucial role in ensuring our vehicles achieve peak performance and efficiency in mission-critical environments. At Mach Industries, we exist to build scalable, decentralized platforms that maintain an allied American edge. As an Aerodynamicist, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to analyze and refine vehicle performance, enhance aerodynamic efficiency, and integrate cutting-edge designs into production-ready systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in aerodynamic simulation tools and techniques, such as Missile Datcom, Xfoil, OpenVSP, XFLR5, and/or STAR-CCM+.
  • Strong foundation in fluid dynamics and aerodynamic principles, with experience optimizing vehicle performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with unmanned systems or high-speed aircraft.
  • Familiarity with startup or defense sector environments.
  • Background in advanced manufacturing techniques and their impact on aerodynamic design.
  • Experience developing aerodynamic solutions for scalable, production-ready systems.
  • Experience conducting wind tunnel or flight testing and analyzing experimental data.

Responsibilities

  • Aerodynamic Design and Analysis: Perform airflow analysis and provide insight into the aerodynamic performance of various vehicle platforms, including air-breathing aircraft and missiles.
  • Optimization of Aerodynamic Performance: Use computational tools, hand calculations, and testing methods to optimize vehicle shapes for performance metrics such as drag reduction, stability, and fuel efficiency.
  • Support Vehicle-Level Design: Contribute to the design and development of airframe geometries from first principles, ensuring designs align with mission requirements.
  • Testing and Validation: Support wind tunnel and flight testing campaigns, analyze test data, and refine designs based on results.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with propulsion, structures, and systems teams to integrate aerodynamic considerations into overall vehicle design.
