About The Position

We are looking for a passionate engineer with a solid background in Gas Turbine combustion to join the LGT Combustion Module (MOD CB) team as an aero designer for all combustion system developments including hydrogen and special fuels developments. As part of a multinational and multidisciplinary team, you will interface with team members globally for various interdisciplinary topics like mechanical design and thermos-acoustics. You will conceptualize aero design of combustion systems and also help in validation of the same.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in an acceptable alternate occupation.
  • Must have 3 years of experience with understanding different computational methods applied in combustion simulations.
  • Experience with engine performance (efficiency, emission, etc.) as well as details of combustion behavior (physical and numerical turbulent properties, un-mixedness, temperature fluctuations, flashback propensity).
  • Advanced combustion simulation methods, software and coding skills to be able to write customized post processing software suites.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the development of combustion aero concepts from preliminary and detailed designs.
  • Execute analyses to down-select new design solutions, to understand the impact of different design solutions on the fuel air mixing, emissions, performance, and dynamics.
  • Contribute to develop as well as execute the combustion aero technology roadmap in support to the advanced combustion systems, including the adoption of alternative fuels (i.e., H2).
  • Communicate results, findings, and observations in a clear and concise manner to peers, IPT Leads and combustion management.
  • Provide feedback to improve/align current Design philosophies to TFP/Part owner.
  • Contribute to project design reviews and status reviews.
  • Partner and coordinate university research programs in the areas of CFD, experimental testing and/or thermoacoustic.
