About The Position

This is a long-term contract position for an Aerial Lineman based in Redmond, Oregon. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing aerial fiber optic cables, performing repairs on fiber systems in compliance with NESC and NEC codes, and operating various construction equipment. The position requires reading and interpreting construction plans, safely climbing poles, and maintaining accurate records and safe work zones. Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of aerial fiber optic cable installation and telecom OSP construction.
  • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, OSHA, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools used in aerial telecom construction.
  • Understanding of traffic control procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision while following instructions accurately.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to learn new telecommunications skills and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair aerial fiber optic cables, including pole transfers, new builds, overlash, and strand construction.
  • Perform repairs on fiber systems, including broken lashing, sagging aerial strand, grounding issues, and pole transfers, in compliance with NESC and NEC codes.
  • Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, bend, assemble, and erect components according to construction plans and industry standards.
  • Pull and place fiber, coaxial, and strand cables using standard aerial construction equipment.
  • Read and interpret fiber construction plans, make-ready drawings, work orders, and construction prints.
  • Safely climb poles and use ladders, pole-climbing gear, and aerial lifts.
  • Operate company vehicles, bucket trucks, and power equipment such as compressors, forklifts, and hydraulic lifts.
  • Set up and maintain safe work zones using cones, signs, barriers, and traffic control devices.
  • Deploy and remove traffic control devices to protect work areas on streets and roadways.
  • Respond to emergency service calls as part of an on-call rotation to restore services promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and work order completion.
  • Identify, report, and mitigate safety hazards, field conditions, and incidents immediately.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work sites before, during, and after project completion.
  • Procure tools and materials efficiently and ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment.
  • Collaborate with crew members and foremen to complete projects on schedule and to quality standards.
  • Actively participate in company safety policies, processes, and programs.
