Aerial Lineman Responsibilities & Duties Install, maintain, and repair overhead lines and cables Climb utility poles to access lines at height Use specialized equipment to install and maintain lines Inspect and test power lines and cables to identify defects or faults Splice, join, and terminate cables as required Adhere to strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries Work with bucket trucks, hand tools, and power tools as needed Collaborate with other team members and contractors to complete projects Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment and tools Respond to service outages and repair requests promptly Document work performed and maintain accurate records Participate in training and certification programs to stay updated with industry standards Aerial Lineman Qualifications & Skills Experience working as an Aerial Lineman or similar role Familiarity with industry-standard safety practices Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and plans Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Excellent physical condition and stamina for working at heights Proficient in the use of hand and power tools Certified in First Aid and CPR Class A CDL driver's license Ability to work in various weather conditions High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an apprenticeship or lineman training program Basic understanding of electrical systems and circuitry Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces Strong communication skills Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays Valid driver's license Commitment to adhering to safety regulations and protocols
