About The Position

Cannon Companies is seeking an experienced, field-driven Aerial Lineman (Pole Transfer Specialist) to support our utility construction crews in aerial telecommunications work. This role is ideal for a skilled lineman who thrives working at heights, handling cable systems, and executing precise pole transfers in joint-use environments. This is a hands-on position-tools on, in the air, and actively contributing to the work. You will be responsible for safely transferring existing communication lines, installing new aerial infrastructure, and ensuring all work meets NESC standards and company expectations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to perform in a high volume and demanding field conditions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as an Aerial Lineman in telecommunications, CATV, or related field.
  • Proficiency in pole climbing using hooks/gaffs and working from extension ladders.
  • Strong knowledge of aerial cable placement, lashing, and transfer procedures.
  • Working knowledge of NESC safety standards and joint-use requirements.
  • Familiarity with NJUNS (National Joint Utility Notification System) and Alden One (Lumen Notification Platform) is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs and perform physically demanding work.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in all weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to safety, detail, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pole transfers by safely relocating existing fiber, coaxial, and copper lines from old poles to new poles according to engineered prints.
  • Install, lash, and tension aerial fiber optic and coaxial cables.
  • Execute delash/relash operations, overbuilds, and removal (wreck-out) of outdated infrastructure.
  • Ensure all aerial construction work complies with NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) standards, including grounding, bonding, and required clearances.
  • Operate aerial construction equipment including bucket trucks, tensioners, pulleys, and related tools.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and job site hazard assessments to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Operate independently in a high-volume environment as a 2-man crew, Aerial Foreman and Coax splicer/ Ground Hand.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, pole loading data, and transfer prints.
  • Maintain clear communication with crew members, supervisors, and project managers.
  • Perform work at heights (30–40+ feet) in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and productivity in all assigned tasks.
