About The Position

The EMT provides direct patient care under the direction of the an RN or LPN and assists the nursing team in providing safe and effective care of patients within the scope of their practice. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively and adapt to the constantly changing workload. Assist with various procedures, including but not limited to, activities of daily living, measuring I & O's, cleaning of area and stocking of supplies and equipment, knowledge of sterile procedures. Must be able to work with others as a member of a health team. Must be willing to learn. Must be able to communicate well with patients, families and co-workers. Must have a genuine interest in patients and coworkers as demonstrated by timeliness and working when scheduled, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • GED or equivalent
  • EMT Certified by the State of Tennessee
  • EMT license from the State of Tennessee
  • BLS prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and adapt to the constantly changing workload
  • Must be able to work with others as a member of a health team
  • Must be willing to learn
  • Must be able to communicate well with patients, families and co-workers
  • Must have a genuine interest in patients and coworkers as demonstrated by timeliness and working when scheduled, including weekends and holidays
