About The Position

We are looking for a compassionate and team-orientated Advocate to join our Legal Advocacy team, providing legal advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning and information/referrals to victims of relationship violence and sexual assault. The ideal candidate would have excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills and a drive to help others. The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by staff assigned to this position. This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of relationship violence and sexual assault issues
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Ability to easily climb stairs
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent oral and written Spanish highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess client needs and connect each client to resources and agency programs
  • Prepare and maintain a service plan with each client
  • Provide legal advocacy and accompaniment
  • Collaborate and act as a liaison with various other organizations and agencies (CPS, Law Enforcement, DA, etc.) to meet the needs of clients
  • Assist clients in filing emergency and final protective orders and restraining orders
  • Collaborate with local attorneys to provide pro bono legal representation
  • Assist clients with crime victims’ compensation claims
  • Maintain client files and records with confidentiality with accurate and complete documentation
  • Collect and report statistical data reflecting the services provided in a timely manner
  • Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested.
