About The Position

The Spring is hiring a full time Advocate Support for Overnights (Monday thru Friday from 11pm-7am) The Spring is a faith-based service provider, shelter, and advocacy organization for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. We offer a safe home and supportive services that assist survivors and their children on their journey out of abuse. Advocate Support staff are responsible for assisting victims/survivors of domestic and sexual assault, human trafficking and stalking within the Crisis shelter program through advocacy victim centered and trauma-informed care services, providing resources, and referrals specific to guest services. This support role ensures efficiency in daily operations of the shelter and helps maintain a client-centered environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in domestic violence or sexual assault field, volunteer experience, or related experience is suggested
  • Must be able to sign The Spring's Statement of Faith
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Able to successfully handle multiple demands and perform effectively despite changing priorities
  • Willing and able to develop relationships with guests and their children within professional boundaries
  • Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Willing and able to work both independently and as a team member
  • Computer experience required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Outstanding customer service, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Maintain boundaries, both professional and personal
  • Must be able to pass a 7-year background check. Any job offer will be based on the results of the background testing. A felony does not automatically exclude you from consideration

Responsibilities

  • Answer calls on the crisis line, provide crisis Intervention Information, safety planning and advocacy to caller; complete required intake documentation
  • Perform day-to-day shelter operations, advocacy and victim-centered, trauma-informed care services for guests
  • Provide supportive services to program participants including but not limited to immediate needs, referrals, crisis intervention and emergency assistance, etc.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of resources and services available in the communities served
  • Document all information regarding crisis calls and direct services as required by policy and procedure
  • Assist in creating a positive cultural environment of personal leadership, communications and teamwork within the shelter and throughout the organization
  • Transport guests in The Spring vehicle as needed
  • Monitor Entry and exit of guest and visitor traffic
  • Assist in daily charting on guests in specific files
  • Serve as additional support to Guest Advocates as needed
  • Assist with meal preparation as needed
  • Be available for emergencies and respond accordingly
  • Assist with children's activities, and program specific events as needed
  • Available for an additional occasional night or weekend may be required, if they are not your normal shift
