About The Position

The Director of Advisory Services at B. Riley Financial is responsible for managing multiple client engagements, overseeing staff in the preparation of claims and expert opinions, and ensuring quality assurance in reports and presentations. This role involves significant client interaction, including managing relationships and participating in mediation hearings. The Director will also contribute to business development and demonstrate leadership in a professional team environment.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, architecture, accounting, business, or related experience is required.
• 10+ years of professional work in consulting, construction, project management, engineering, accounting, scheduling, and/or business demonstrating a progression in responsibility.
• 5+ years of work experience in the preparation and evaluation of construction claims on complex construction projects.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
• Proficient experience with MS Office software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Proficient experience with Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop; working knowledge of InDesign and Illustrator is a plus.
• Proficient experience with industry software such as Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Access, and databases like Ringtail, Relativity, and DISCO.
• Willingness and ability to develop business and provide presentations; highly skilled at written and verbal communications.
• Self-motivated with effective time management skills and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Proven self-starter with a record of continuing education or professional development.
• Exhibits leadership skills through effective management of consultants and multiple assignments.
• Ability to work effectively in a professional team environment on multiple assignments.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, writing, oral and written communications, problem solving, and presentation skills.
• Experience with large-scale (greater than $50 million) construction projects.
• Membership or participation in professional/industry communities such as SCLNA, ABA, HBA, ABC, DBIA, SMPS, AGC, etc.
• Professional licensure (PE, Architect) and/or certification (e.g., AACE - Certified Cost Professional, PMI - Project Management Professional) is preferred.

• Proficiency or fluency in other languages is a plus.
• Working knowledge of InDesign and Illustrator is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manages multiple small to medium client engagements simultaneously, along with segments of larger projects to support principal consultants.
• Manages client relationships, including communicating work progress and status, managing client meetings, and meeting client goals and deadlines.
• Manages staff in the analysis, development, and preparation of claims and expert opinions, providing direction in evaluating project planning, costs, schedules, construction-related claims, and quantification of damages.
• Provides quality assurance in generating reports and presentations for expert witness use during mediation, arbitration, and litigation, and develops graphics and demonstrative aids.
• Participates and/or presents findings in mediation hearings, with potential for testimony as an expert witness in deposition, arbitration, or litigation.
