AECOM Advisory is seeking a dynamic Manager (Engagement Manager / Managing Consultant) to join our growing Advisory business line. The selected candidate will support the commercial evaluation, economic justification, and business case for investments in supply chain, freight and logistics. Building off AECOM’s considerable expertise in infrastructure design and implementation, AECOM Advisory serves as a trusted adviser to senior level clients and executive teams on their most pressing enterprise and strategic needs. We support the full value chain of clients active in infrastructure, the built environment, and community vibrancy, including national governments, regulatory entities, city agencies, utilities, transit agencies, infrastructure operators and investors. This role will: Provide experience and expertise in supply chain management, industrial development, logistics and distribution-related project execution. Build client relationships and manage interactions throughout the engagement lifecycle. Upwardly and laterally manage the inputs from regional leadership, Directors, Client Account Managers, and technical experts to flag key delivery choices, considerations and risks as they relate to technical scope, client satisfaction, and commercial constraints. Independently tailor existing/proven analytical frameworks and methodologies for client-specific needs. Conduct business modeling (market sizing, segmentation, penetration, adoption) and investment analysis by building custom discounted cash flow (DCF) Excel models to calculate financial performance or cost-benefit analyses (CBA) regarding overall economic rationale. Conduct stakeholder interviews, including with C-suite clients and senior management stakeholders. Be responsible for delivery with a subset of public and private industrial, port, and goods movement clients that would be looking for supply chain consulting expertise. Collaborate with leadership on strategic growth initiatives such as industrial development, advanced manufacturing, automation and future of logistics, energy transition and digitization to further develop these strategies and projects. The ideal candidate will provide a holistic set of technical, analytical, and soft skills while exhibiting the flexibility and adaptability necessary for working with our clients and navigating complex, fast-paced environments. Skills needed include problem solving, data analysis, project management and execution, risk analysis and management, and demonstrated expertise in supply chain and logistics. A successful candidate is a “systems thinker” who can understand the business and operational drivers for infrastructure projects in public and private sector applications. They will bring the following core skills, knowledge and experience: Transportation and Logistics Operations Understanding: Knowledge of transportation management, associated infrastructure needs, operational challenges and solutions, with global logistics exposure. Understanding of the flow of goods from an end-to-end perspective. Multi-modal Logistics Exposure: Experience with shipping, transportation equipment and associated infrastructure, across various modes (rail, ports and maritime, air, truck). Industrial and Economic Development: Exposure to Industrial and / or Economic Development processes and activities, including brownfield and greenfield facilities. Understanding of the public and private sector stakeholders and areas of engagement for fostering project development. Supply Chain Problem Solving, Resiliency and Risk Management: An ability to identify, assess, and mitigate challenges and risks within the supply chain. Understands operations, process documentation and assessment, and derive infrastructure requirements to increase performance and / or resiliency. Data Analysis: Ability to identify and interpret complex supply chain and transportation processes and data, identify trends, and recommend actions. Can simplify complex issues into communicable themes. Technology Proficiency: Proficient with systems and concepts of digitalization and application in Supply Chain Management, Transportation and Logistics, Infrastructure and Operations. Familiarity with supply chain software and ERP systems. Experience with data visualization tools is highly beneficial. Base understanding of AI and impacts/application to areas of practice.
