About The Position

This position serves as a senior-level Advisory Engineer with a working title of Project Engineer, providing high-level engineering leadership and project execution support to SRNS. The role requires independent technical judgment, deep DOE-site experience, and the ability to manage complex engineering projects across scope, cost, schedule, and quality.

Requirements

  • One of the following combinations: PhD + approximately 15 years of experience MS + approximately 17 years of experience BS + approximately 21 years of experience
  • BS Degree in Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience providing overall engineering and design leadership for assigned projects
  • Experience integrating engineering resources, schedules, tools, and forecasts
  • Experience managing document control, project controls, and quality engineering functions
  • Experience resolving conflicts between project direction and functional technical direction
  • Experience establishing firm project scope and customer requirements
  • Strong experience working with diverse teams to deliver results
  • Ability to perform field walkdowns at active construction and operational sites
  • Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, access remote areas, and work in PPE and respirators
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documents with attention to detail
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior engineering staff
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
  • Active clearance not required to start
  • Prior DOE L or Q within the past two years preferred

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and lead complex technical programs based on customer needs and technology trends
  • Resolve the most complex technical problems within area of expertise and adjacent disciplines
  • Provide engineering leadership and technical direction across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Integrate engineering activities for assigned projects, including design criteria, schedules, resource forecasts, and priorities
  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules, and personnel requirements
  • Monitor project progress, expenditures, quality, and performance
  • Establish engineering baselines and manage changes to scope, cost, and schedule
  • Evaluate project cost and schedule variances and implement corrective actions
  • Apply SRNS engineering processes and procedures
  • Interface with management, engineering, operations, QA, procurement, and subcontractors
  • Review subcontractor design outputs to ensure compliance with technical, cost, and schedule objectives
  • Utilize EVMS tools and review cost accounts related to engineered materials
  • Participate in department and site-wide programmatic issue resolution and quality improvement initiatives
  • Mentor junior engineers and transfer technical knowledge
  • Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and briefings
