About The Position

The Offshore Technical Service Advisor plays a critical role in shaping and delivering safe, reliable, and capital‑efficient offshore developments across ConocoPhillips’ global portfolio. Reporting to the Global Projects Technical Services organization, this role partners closely with Business Units and corporate teams to guide projects from early opportunity framing through execution and startup. With a strong offshore development focus, the Advisor provides technical leadership and assurance to ensure projects are positioned for long‑term value, technical integrity, and operational excellence. This role blends strategic thinking with hands‑on technical engagement—helping teams navigate uncertainty, make high‑quality decisions, and deliver projects that meet performance, safety, and sustainability commitments. The position offers meaningful exposure to global projects, cross‑disciplinary collaboration, and opportunities to influence how ConocoPhillips designs and delivers offshore developments worldwide.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, or foreign equivalent
  • 10 or more years of offshore engineering experience across multiple project phases, from early development through execution and startup.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with offshore development concepts such as Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units, semi‑submersibles, Tension Leg Platforms (TLPs), fixed platforms, and subsea tiebacks.
  • Experience managing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of offshore production systems, field development concepts, and integrated system architecture.
  • Understanding of subsurface uncertainty and its impact on offshore development planning and system selection.
  • Solid understanding of offshore regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and classification requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate uncertainty, assess risk, and support high‑quality technical and investment decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Working knowledge of metocean conditions, environmental loading, and marine and structural interactions.
  • Builds strong relationships based on trust and seeks opportunities to collaborate across the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across early opportunity framing, concept selection, and offshore system architecture development, including subsea systems, host facilities, tiebacks, and export solutions.
  • Deliver independent technical assurance and engineering quality oversight from feasibility through execution, commissioning, and startup to ensure projects are set up for reliable delivery.
  • Integrate interfaces across subsea, topsides, drilling and completions, and marine disciplines to enable cohesive, fit‑for‑purpose offshore development solutions.
  • Support project planning and controls activities, including schedule integration, risk and uncertainty management, change control, and project readiness assessments.
  • Guide commissioning and startup readiness, including performance testing and effective handover to operations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and execution risks through audits, reviews, and structured assessments, translating findings into actionable improvements.
  • Ensure engineering decisions, technology selections, and designs comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and technical integrity expectations.
  • Drive value creation through standardization, simplification, modularization, and the application of industry best practices.
  • Oversee contractor and vendor technical deliverables to ensure alignment with project objectives, quality standards, and execution strategies.
  • Support contracting and procurement strategies, including vendor qualification and technology evaluations.
  • Promote knowledge sharing by embedding lessons learned, benchmarking insights, and emerging technologies into future projects.
  • Engage proactively with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contractors and suppliers to ensure technical readiness and equipment quality.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to capability development across the organization.
  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership and uphold strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance throughout all project phases.
