About The Position
The Advisor for Student Success at St. Philip's College plays a crucial role in guiding students from their initial enrollment through to their graduation. This position is responsible for implementing effective academic advising strategies that align with the college's mission of empowering diverse communities for success. The advisor will work closely with students to help them navigate their academic journey, ensuring they meet their learning outcomes and achieve their educational goals. This role may also involve providing specialized services to unique student populations, addressing their specific needs and challenges. In addition to one-on-one advising sessions, the advisor will be expected to develop and facilitate workshops and informational sessions that promote academic success and retention. The position requires a proactive approach to student engagement, utilizing data and feedback to continuously improve advising practices. The advisor will collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to create a supportive environment that fosters student achievement and well-being. The role is grant-funded and is part of a larger initiative to enhance student support services within the Alamo Colleges District, which serves a diverse student body, including a significant number of first-generation college students and those who rely on financial aid. The advisor will be expected to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of students.
