Reporting to the Sr. Mgr., SH&E. This position is responsible for supporting Greenville MS LPI Chemical Manufacturing location with safety, health, environmental, DOT training and regulatory programs, to ensure safe operations. This position is located in Greenville MS, US.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental science, or related field preferred.
  • Postgraduate degree or specialization in Safety Engineering, Ergonomics, or Environmental Management is a plus.
  • Certifications (preferred): CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), Ergonomics certification / experience or equivalent; any applicant hired will be expected to obtain Professional Certifications in Safety (ASP & CSP).
  • 5 years work experience with state laws and regulations including (but not limited) to OSHA, PSM, EPA, RMP, DHS, State environmental and DOT agencies.
  • Self–motivated and disciplined requiring little to no direct supervision, ability to concurrently deal with multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, with overnight travel approximately 15% of the time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to be certified by a physician to wear a respirator and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to type on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work around chemicals and wear personal protective equipment including nitrile gloves, Tyvek suits, hardhat.
  • Ability to operate in a drug-free workplace and possess a US driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Support facilities in implementing DOT and fleet safety programs such as driver qualification files and defensive driving training.
  • Identify SH&E, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and DHS regulations applicable to materials and processes at facilities and assist in understanding EHS, OSHA, EPA, DOT and DHS regulations, standards and programs.
  • Conduct company SH&E compliance audits.
  • Coordinate safety training, emergency response drills, and PPE compliance programs.
  • Monitor health indicators and support ergonomic programs or health surveillance protocols.
  • Prepare and lead training meetings and train-the-trainer sessions.
  • Advise and support facilities during interaction with regulatory agencies.
  • Keep apprised of federal, state, and regional laws and regulations affecting facilities and maintain working relationships with regulatory agencies.
  • Investigate incidents such as injuries, vehicle accidents, and property damage.
  • Determine root cause of incidents and oversee preparation of corrective action plans for each incident.
  • Ensure timely notification is made to regulatory agencies and company management for incidents.
  • Monitor facilities for unsafe work practices and unsafe work conditions and support Near Miss Reporting at facilities.
  • Support facility Process Safety Management plans.
  • Respond and coordinate spill response efforts.
  • Evaluate and advise on operational practices at locations for environmental risk.
  • Evaluate and advise on proposed acquisitions and divestitures for safety and environmental risk.
  • Support facility and Division administration on construction projects.
  • Assure preparation, submittal, and maintenance of RMP plans, Haz Waste, TRI, SARA Tier II, TRI, PPR, and Environmental Reports.
  • Assist facilities on process sampling, waste management and disposal issues.
  • Monitor environmental performance indicators (e.g., emissions, water usage, waste generation).
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company sustainability goals.
  • Manage permits, reports, and inspections related to air, water, and waste.
  • Support certification efforts and audits.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments for production lines, laboratories, and offices.
  • Recommend workplace and workstation design modifications to minimize musculoskeletal risks.
  • Collaborate with HR and occupational health professionals to support return-to-work and accommodation strategies.
  • Promote ergonomic awareness and injury prevention campaigns (lead Stretch and Flex Program).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for audits and regulatory bodies.
  • Track SH&E KPIs and report performance trends to management.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for new projects, ensuring integration of SHE aspects in design and planning.
  • Engage with global SHE teams to implement corporate initiatives and best practices.
