About The Position

Enbridge encourages all safety professionals to apply to our Safety Advisor role! Our Safety Advisor will have strong analytical, and report writing skills to review leading & lagging indicator trends and find safety management system improvement opportunities. In addition, this role with support and reaffirm the Safety Management Systems utilization which includes all elements, programs, standards, and practices within the US Gulf Coast Region. This requires the full and systematic application of the Enbridge leading indicator programs, permitting compliance processes, incident management standard, training, internal/external communications, and contractor / subcontractor engagement. Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of health & safety experience within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry (Other combinations of education and experience may be considered)
  • A valid driver’s license which will be verified with a motor vehicle check prior to hire and that you also have a Passport for travel outside of the country.
  • Qualify for or already possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC card)
  • Show strong digital literacy and are proficiency in using basic computer programs
  • Innovative, tactical, initiate and manage change, negotiate, influence without authority, facilitate, solve problems, make decisions, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Related EHS, Scientific Degree or Emergency Response Certification
  • Certified Safety Professional/Associate Safety Professional (CSP or ASP) or other Professional Board Certification
  • Previous experience working within the US Coast Guard Regulations

Responsibilities

  • Champion the Enbridge Vision, Values, and Path to Zero Principles with internal partners and external contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Advance safety culture by promoting the understanding and integration of Organizational & Human Performance concepts, recognizing incident precursors, and controlling risk through utilization of the energy-based hazard recognition process.
  • Provide support to operational leadership for reaffirming and improving safety standards and work execution management through systematic auditing.
  • Provide safety leadership by leading, coaching and mentoring of line management and safety representatives on their responsibilities for safe operations and the safety & health of workers under their direction.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with field personnel through pro-active involvement in field activities and a regular presence in the field as per the regional tactical plan.
  • Act as a conduit for communications between the terminal and the Health & Safety Department on safety related matters.
  • Support implementation of the contractor safety management program.
  • Conduct and/or participate in terminal safety assessments, inspections and observations; quality reviews, trend and analyze data, and assist in the completion of corrective actions as required.
  • Support the incident management function comprehensive of the processes for incident reporting, investigation, quality assurance leadership reviews, corrective action monitoring and lessons learned bulletin communications.
  • Provide input into the development and maintenance of safety training and facilitate safety training as required.
  • Participate on assigned committees and serve as a technical safety resource.
  • Support, monitor and review implementation of the hazard assessment program to ensure its efficiency
  • Support the annual employee medical evaluation process (fit test, PFT, audiometric, ERT physical) and industrial hygiene safety management functions.
  • Support the fire training program for all ERT members.
  • Assume the role of safety officer or a safety support role within the Incident Command System during emergencies and emergency response exercises.
  • As required, will work with regulators and other 3rd parties completing safety audits, reviews, inspections and/or investigations and aid in the development and timely completion of associated corrective action plans.
  • Support communication with third party vendors for employee FRC and other required PPE.
  • Maintain terminal communication equipment with area vendors. (FCC license, portable radios, public address system).
  • Promoting industry best practices by monitoring industry trends and identifying new technologies.
