The Advisor, Risk and Quality supports patient and staff safety, regulatory compliance, and overall risk mitigation under the direction of Quality leadership. This role is responsible for investigating incident reports, patient complaints, and potential malpractice claims, ensuring timely resolution while identifying opportunities for prevention. Working collaboratively across all departments, the Risk Advisor promotes consistent, high-quality, and safe patient care practices. The position focuses on identifying, analyzing, and mitigating organizational risk exposures to protect both patients and the organization. Through data analysis, event reporting, and participation in safety initiatives, the Risk Advisor helps drive operational and process improvements. Additionally, the role provides education and guidance to staff on risk management practices and requires strong communication, analytical skills, and strict confidentiality when handling sensitive clinical information.

Requirements

• Clinical experience required as a Registered Nurse or allied health professional
• Bachelor’s degree required (e.g., BSN or related field)
• Must be able to work ONSITE Monday - Friday, 8:00a - 5:00p

Nice To Haves

• Program management experience preferred
• Preferred certification: Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM)
• Preferred: Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in acute healthcare risk management

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage comprehensive risk management program to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance
• Assess, identify, and monitor organizational risks; implement systems and processes to mitigate exposure
• Review and investigate incident reports, adverse events, and patient complaints; ensure timely follow-up and resolution
• Collaborate with clinical teams, leadership, Quality, and Patient Safety to address risks and improve care outcomes
• Conduct risk analyses (e.g., FMEA, RCA) and evaluate trends using internal and external data sources
• Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and evolving healthcare legislation
• Develop and present risk management reports, findings, and recommendations to leadership and committees
• Support policy development, implementation, and adherence across the organization
• Partner with legal counsel and leadership on potential claims and liability concerns
• Lead and support initiatives to improve patient, employee, and visitor safety and satisfaction
• Provide education and training to staff and providers on risk management, compliance, and patient safety practices
• Serve as an accessible resource to staff through regular rounding and cross-functional collaboration
