About The Position

Under general direction, provides Project Management by working closely with Emergency Preparedness & Response (EP&R) liaising with Senior Leadership, Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Accounting, Construction and Operations staff, outside consultants, and suppliers. The person in this role develops and maintains status reports for schedules, cost estimates/budgets/actuals, material delivery, and other aspects of projects as necessary within the EP&R area of CenterPoint. Responsible to keep all applicable parties aware of any concerns or significant changes that may affect assigned projects. This person is also required to participate in an after-hours emergency response support and on-call rotation for organization wide support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent work-related experience required;
  • A combination of education and work-related experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Seven (7) years of project management experience required.

  • Utility industry and Emergency Preparedness & Response experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and ensure accuracy of invoicing for labor and materials for assigned projects.
  • Work with design engineers to coordinate all aspects of schedules and cost estimates.
  • Update monthly cost estimates for actual costs of purchased materials and contracted labor.
  • Provide status reports and updates on assigned projects with audiences at all levels within the organization.
  • Manage complex calendars, schedule and coordinate meetings, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Prepare executive-level correspondence, talking points, and presentation materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Support leadership meetings, including agenda development, documentation, and follow-up on action items.
  • Monitor and coordinate project resources at the individual project level as well as the project’s impact to the organization.
  • Provide updates to project schedules regularly for management review.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on department or project budgets, cost estimates, and financial performance metrics.
  • Create high-quality PowerPoint presentations and data visualizations for senior executives and board-level audiences.
  • Deliver clear and concise presentations summarizing key performance indicators, project updates, or strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between executives and internal/external stakeholders to ensure alignment and follow-through.
  • Generate and analyze reports using Microsoft Excel and financial management tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to review invoices, track spending, and ensure cost alignment with forecasts.
  • As necessary to meet schedule, allocate/reallocate resources, co-ordinate project and business needs requirements for projects with operations and other stakeholders to help facilitate scheduling and installation of the projects and minimize impact scope.
  • Monitor status of permitting (air emissions, DNR, COE, storm water, wetlands, controlled water ways, Public access, etc.), easements and property rights/land acquisitions, follow-up with agencies to ensure timeliness and update individual project schedules as needed and applicable.
  • Demonstrate exceptional level of proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Project, etc.) including presenting to large teams inclusive of Senior Leadership.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent cost estimating and scheduling capabilities.
  • Possess the necessary level of knowledge and skills in Enterprise Asset Management systems used to organize asset data and manage construction/operations/maintenance activities performed on assets, and fixed asset/plant accounting systems (such as PowerPlant) used to track units of property and associated costs.
  • Must also have experience in Process Development/Improvement, and understand, analyze, and drive improvements to work processes.
  • Research, quantify, organize, analyze, and report on asset and business data. Be proficient in financial management applications (such as Oracle and SAP) used for procurement activities and project cost analysis.
