About The Position

The People Advisor at Waste Management is responsible for providing tactical HR support to individual contributors within assigned business units. This role serves as the first point of contact for employee relations issues and human resources policies, ensuring a consistent and transparent application of policies and procedures. The advisor will uphold the company's commitments and values, fostering an environment of trust and engagement among a diverse workforce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a similar area of study, or a High School Diploma/GED with four years of relevant work experience.
  • Two years of related work experience in addition to the education requirement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solutions-oriented approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Strong internal and external customer focus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to navigate complex environments and drive solutions autonomously.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to recognize trends and communicate effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or CHRP Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reliable and timely coaching and counseling to employees on HR issues.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve employee relations issues while balancing employee advocacy with company policies.
  • Support and deliver internal HR processes including Performance Management, New Hire Orientation, and Exit interviews.
  • Conduct training on company policies and programs as needed.
  • Participate in recruitment outreach efforts with local teams.
  • Serve as an active member of People-related project teams as assigned.
  • Apprise and escalate potential legal, risk, and safety concerns to the People Manager.
