This role is contingent upon funding. Job Summary: This position will work with the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program. The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program is designed to develop Americans' knowledge of foreign cultures and languages by supporting teaching assistantships in more than 35 languages at hundreds of U.S. institutions of higher education. The program offers educators from over 55 countries the opportunity to develop their professional skills and gain first-hand knowledge of the U.S., its culture and its people by teaching their languages at colleges and universities across the nation. The Advisor, Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant monitors and advises a medium to large caseload of (up to 200) Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program participants coming into the United States. Communicates frequently with participants, monitoring their program compliance, academic or professional progress, and skills development. Handle all emergency situations within assigned caseload, working with the grantee, the partners and their manager to monitor and resolve situations while keeping the sponsor updated. Builds networks with institutional partners and IIE constituents to ensure participant success. Supports a broad range of projects within the FLTA team to ensure program deliverables are met.

Requirements

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong understanding of international participants and ability to manage cultural and counseling issues.
• Broad knowledge of assessment, training, and advising tools.
• Project management, time management, and administrative skills.
• Strong interest and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff and clients, ability to exercise discretion on confidential matters.

Responsibilities

• Serves as main point of contact on behalf of the program sponsor to a medium to large caseload of (up to 200) FLTAs and host institutions, navigating country specific political landscapes, complex stakeholders, and changing priorities.
• Monitors, tracks, analyzes, reports and makes recommendations on participant academic or professional progress, conduct, well-being, and program compliance.
• Provides emergency support, connecting participants to local resources and coordinating follow-up, as necessary.
• Monitors and tracks grantees throughout an emergency process, consulting with manager, and providing regular updates to internal and external stakeholders, as applicable. (In emergency situations Advisors are expected to be available beyond typical business hours, as needed).
• Maintains participant data in E-CRM, following established processes.
• Provide input on established processes and make recommendations for improvements, including through annual review of standard FLTA communications and touchpoints with participants and other external stakeholders.
• Assists in the planning and implementation of regional and global events, both in-person and virtually as necessary, including preparing communications, presentations and associated materials.
• Supports relationships with U.S. host institutions, including through participating in the launch and promotion of the annual FLTA host institution application.
• Analyzes financial information provided through the host application process and contributes to writing of Fulbright grant documentation for individual participants that accord with budgets.
